How many lions does it take to change a lightbulb?

We're not sure, but we've got a pretty good idea how many you need to eat a Cape buffalo in about 12 hours flat. One of the major highlights of our two days at Camp Moremi was when we dropped in on a pride of lions while they were finishing off what used to be a buffalo. We were only about 1-2 metres from the lions at any time, and they couldn't care less! They had all eaten their fill (note the round bellies on the photos) and had become very sleepy as well, a little like Thanksgiving in America. Here's what was left of the buffalo.

On n'est pas sûrs, mais on a une idée combien il en faut pour dévorer un bufle du Cap dans quelques 12 heures. Nos deux jours au Camp Moremi ont été marqué par notre visite à la famille des lions pendsnt leur repas. On n'était pas plus de 1 à 2 mètres des lions et ils s'en fichaient totalement ! Ils avaient mangé tout ce qu'ils désiraient (voir les ventres bien arrondis sur les photos) et avaient très sommeil en conséquence. Voici ce qu'il restait du bufle.

Another treat was our leopard spotting. Leopards are hard to find: they sleep in trees during the day and are very well camouflaged. Our friends Trish and Brian (who were nice enough to send us their photos) had an amazing leopard sighting the day after we left camp (they could actually see it eating an impala in the tree), but we had to be happy seeing one snoozing. It was hard to get a good angle, and you don't want to get too close to a leopard in a tree because he might decide to jump on your head, but we're still pretty proud of the result.

Bonus : nous avons vu un léopard. Ils sont difficile à localiser. Ils dorment dans des arbres de jour et sont très bien camouflés. Nos amis Trish et Brian (qui ont eu la gentillesse de nous envoyer quelques photos) one eu un rencontre incroyable avec un léopard le jour après notre départ : ils le voyaient carrement manger un impala sur un arbre. Il fallait que nous nous contentions d'en voir un faire un sieste. L'angle n'était pas terrible et tu ne peux pas trop t'approcher à un léopard dans un arbre car il peut très bien décider de sauter sur ta tête, mais nous sommes globalement heureux du résultat.
